Update Icarus Excel 9.7 (E1050BK) with Onyx Boox M92 firmware

Hi all,

Is it possible to upgrade Icarus Excel 9.7 (E1050BK) with Onyx Boox M92 firmware?

Firmware currently installed on my Icarus is from January 2013 and I see that Onyx Boox M92 has firmware from December 2013.

If possible - how to do that update step by step?

Hello,
Yes, you could make an update of the firmware with the Booxtor's firmware. Somewhere in the forum you have allready this information.

Hi Randy11,

I found topic here:

and followed instructions (put file: "update-20131129.zip" on sd card and reboot with joystick key) and Icarus simply boots without upgrading firmware.

"update-20131129.zip" is the only file on sdcard.

I even did factory reset and tried again but with no luck.

Any suggestions?

It seems that joystick doesn't work...
Is there any way to install upgrade without joystick?

If the joystick is working during normal operations, the joystick must be ok during the update. Maybe, there is an error. You must maintain the joystick pressed during the boot. Could you try ?

Joystick doesn't work in any circumstances. I actually barely use it as I rely entirely on the stylus so I haven't even noticed. It could have been broken since May (time when I made last update). That's a shame cause reader was always in cover (maybe that cover damaged it).

Are there any applications I could run on my PC which could flash reader with new software?
