Another question: which settings do you choose for your conversion? My clip jam doesn't recognise the MP3 I get with conversion. Or maybe the files are just too long.

The version here is what I use. The program has the option of splitting the file into chapters or creating one file, and you can customize the bit rate and other features.

I use sample rate 22050Hz and 96000bps. I've never had any trouble with the resulting file not being recognized in the other Clips or in my new player.

A feature I just discovered on my AGPTek is variable playback speed. What's nice is that it increases the speed in very small increments--I have it set at level +2 of +8 and can notice no distortion at all; it can also be slowed down to -8.

I found it by accident, though it may be mentioned in the manual for all I know.
You just do a short press above the main play/pause button (a long press will lock/unlock). You'll see a menu that includes repeat, shuffle, and other options, one of which is variable playback speed. Another choice there is bookmarks, but I haven't tried that one yet.

Hmm. I access my books in folder view (I created a folder named Audiobooks with subfolders). I have these options:

• repeat
• shuffle
• equalizer
• variable speed playback
• add to playlist
• remove from playlist
• repeat settings
• bookmarks
• delete

Looks like it must be a change they made in the Bluetooth version.

Catlady, could you answer a question for me please?
On all my other mp3 players, even the clip+ knockoff, I am able to pause the audiobook and after a while the player turns off. Well, I guess I'm dense and maybe have something set wrong because that is not working on the GO5 one. It just pauses it and never turns off. This is killing my battery life! I have Power Off set to 2 minutes.
Any ideas what the heck I'm doing wrong??

Sorry, no idea. I never do anything to turn mine off; I just pause it when I'm done listening.

Can't you turn it off manually?

Oh yes, I just tend to forget!! I guess I got so used to just pausing and it would take care of itself. I'll have to develop a new habit.

Catlady if you don't mind me asking, is the model you bought th A06? I can get the A02 or A06 (branded as the Ruizu) here is Australia and curious about the bookmarking feature. Does it work reliably? Most MP3 players will come back to the last spot you were up to after turning it off, but forgets the location if you open a new file.

How does the Bluetooth go? Reliable? Works without issue?

Sorry, I can't help you. I have the G05W. I have never used bookmarking, and except for initially trying out the Bluetooth connection, I haven't used that either.

Thanks anyway. Amazes me why in this day and age it is so hard to get a mp3 player with some pretty simple functions to support audiobooks.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 This one? I have it. I use it at night to play the same audio books over and over and over and over. Insomnia cure! It has been used every single night since purchase.
I've had it a couple years. The buttons are getting a wee bit wonky. But that might be from sleeping on it every night for almost two years!. If I pause/then turn off correctly it will remember my place. But, if I go into another book I don't think it will remember where I was in the other book. The battery is great, lasts a long time even after all this time. I've only used the bluetooth feature a couple times. It works fine.

I will say for the price I got it for and what I wanted it for the player works great. I don't know if the quality has improved over the last couple years. I will say the quality of the A12 or the GO5 is better.
