Exclamation Incorrect Format

Hi,

I have a PDF (as shown in the attachment PDF.JPG)

After converting in calibre, the formatting has changed by itself.
There's a break in every line!
Plz refer to attached calibre.jpg

Using calibre 0.8.57 on win xp.
I've tried most settings, but to no avail.

Can anyone advise me on how to solve this ?
Tx!!!

The way to solve this is...
  1. Convert the PDF to ePub
  2. Use Sigil to edit the ePub
  3. A/B compare the PDF to the ePub and fix any errors
  4. Fix any formatting that is not correct
  5. When done with the PDF > ePub conversion, convert the ePub to your preferred format
  6. Load on your Kindle
  7. Enjoy reading
  8. Done

There is no way to do the conversion so it just works. And Mobipocket/KF8 are poor formats to convert to as you cannot then edit the resulting eBook. You do need to do an A/B conversion to make sure you don't have broken lines all over the place and other assorted errors. This is not an easy thing to do to do it right. The optimal solution is to just not bother.

@somkk,

When you convert from PDF to whatever, you can usually reduce the number of broken paragraphs (as in your 2nd image) by adjusting the value found in Convert - PDF Input - Line Un-wrapping Factor. I think the default is 0.5, so try 0.3, 0.4, 0.6, 0.7 etc until you hit the best result for this particular PDF.

It still won't create a perfect conversion but it may give you less manual work to be done afterwards.

It's not really that much less work as to do it correctly, you still have to A/B compare everything.

Dear Mr. Wolf,

Just got around to doing it, and the results are way better than converting to mobi.

I'm just reading the epub directly on the Kindle!

Tx a lot!
