There are some posters on the forums who have very strong and pedantic opinions on things and enjoy writing up an info dump lecture on that. You learn to skim them and let the irrelevant parts roll off your back.

Well, if you don't have an AMD64 processor, you won't be able to use it. Do you have an AMD64 processor?

While I personally use calibre and am very happy with it, I did look at the s2k tool. I've set it up for a old friend of mine who gets his Amazon books using D&T. For unknown reasons, his care home has wired Internet at full speed and wireless Internet that is QoS choked (Speedtest reports 32KBps!‽). He now has 2 icons on his desktop that run batch files to run s2k while replace his old batch file that used the Windows robocopy utility. The two batch files use separate configuration files. One uses USB just as the old batch file did for his PW3. The other batch file uses MTP but also removes the DRM from the files and add them to a calibre library following the instructions on NoDRM's GitHub page. After the DRM removal, the books are sent to his new Kindle PW6. The ability to only send newly added books simplified the workflow considerably. At this time, the sync is intended to be uni-directional since removing files from the calibre library is not a good idea.
For them, clicking on a single icon is a lot easier than attempting to use the keyboard and mouse due to worsening motor control issues. As mentioned above, I am happy with calibre. OTOH, at times calibre and it's Swiss army knife approach is not as good as a simple tool and I am very happy that the OP released s2k. |

Calibre will not help (on Mac) if you want to copy .notebook or .sdr folders.
Of course there is open-source OpenMTP GUI for that. For command line on Mac (maybe linux too) you can install mtplib which includes 'demonstration' command line tools that can list devices, copy files, etc. Code:
mtp-albumart mtp-files mtp-newfolder mtp-thumb mtp-albums mtp-filetree mtp-newplaylist mtp-tracks mtp-connect mtp-folders mtp-playlists mtp-trexist mtp-delfile mtp-format mtp-reset mtp-detect mtp-getfile mtp-sendfile mtp-emptyfolders mtp-getplaylist mtp-sendtr That said, kudos for this tool! Since calibre is open source, have you taken a look at it's code to save you some time in your development effort? Though I seem to remember that calibre uses a mix of C/C++ for the low level drivers and Python code for the rest.

Does this tool still need an AMD processor?

You consider yourself an expert on nomenclature yet you frequently have no idea what you are going on about. At some point in the 1980's the industry started to refer to Intel's (broad) instruction set as x86. At some point Intel 16 bit CPUs were lumped into ia16 and 32 bit CPUs ia32 (for Intel Architecture). From 8 bit through 32 bit CPUs Intel sorta kinda extended the instruction sets sorta kinda compatibly. For 64 bit Intel created an new instruction set architecture completely different from those that came before, which, of course, became known as ia64. Meanwhile, AMD decided to design their 64 bit CPUs as a traditional extension of ia32. This became known as AMD64. (I am confident Intel didn't like that, but there was nothing that they could do about it. Years went by without ia64 Itanium becoming popular and it sank like the Itanic. Intel was more or less forced to make a line of 64 bit chips more or less compatible with AMD64. So Intel64 bit chips for the past couple of decades run AMD64 software. Both you and Intel might not like it. but that is the way it is. You should really should consider the possibility that you don't know everything and do a little bit of research before posting nonsense. |

Jon, the tool runs happily on an Intel processor. Or are you trying to say x86-64 (AKA x64, x86_64, AMD64 or Intel 64) which is to say an x86 processor with 64 bit extensions?
Or are you complaining that the OP did not create a 32 bit version? One of the ARM architecture variants? Open mouth, insert both feet. |

If there is a need for 32 bit Windows or Linux version wich runs on Intel or AMD processors - this could be done (I can do that, was not expecting any demand). If there is an ask for ARM based builds (Linux or Windows) or for MAC (any kind of darwin based staff) - I will need help since I have (presently) no access to anything Apple or ARM hardware.

The last 32-bit Intel consumer chip was the Core Duo ca. 2006. It's been almost two decades and it's not worth worrying about non-AMD64 capable chips unless there is a very specific need to support a vanishingly small niche of users using vintage equipment.
