Replace characters while fetching news to MOBI format
Is there a way to search/replace characters while fetching news to MOBI format?
I download various news sources with Calibre to MOBI format, which I then save to my Kindle Paperwhite. I find MOBI's table of contents navigation far superior to EPUB. Specifically, I want to replace "—" with " -- " because words to the left or right of an em dash cannot be selected for Kindle's dictionary lookup. |

FYI I've been trying different ways. When I add Search/Replace fields to "Preferences --> Conversion --> Output Preferences" there is no replacement after fetching the news into MOBI format. However, that will eliminate the MOBI Table of Contents handling -- it's just like the EPUB long list of links.
If I select "Convert Book" from MOBI to MOBI the search/replace operation works perfectly, but again the MOBI Table of Contents is ruined. The file marked "Original MOBI" works fine without the replacement, the file marked "MOBI" has the replacement with a messed up Table of Contents. |
