I've pretty much given up on adding books to my collection. Except for a few that really need special attention.
Because, I had a collection sync error: In the library on "Content Library", 50 books were still in collection A.
But when syncing to my Kindle device, only 10 books were in the collection, and the remaining 40 books were in the uncollected section.

Well, there is Nickleseries. But I would guess the number of people who are editing their books and not using calibre is relatively small.

For Kobo users, NickelSeries adds the series/series index and subtitle if they are in ePub3 or calibre format. All other metadata such as multiple authors, word and page count, estimated reading times, collections, etc. require that second connection to calibre after the import process has created the database entry for the book.

NickelSeries is not really useful (IMHO) if you don't use calibre. Not many eBooks have series information in the OPF.

I lost many books when I copied by cable. So I switched to "Send to Kindle" so that the books are stored online.

Either send them as PDOC KFX, or make sure to let the Kindle go online every week or two. If it's offline for an extended time then the Kindle will do a clean up of every EBOK that doesn't align to a real Kindle Store book.

You cannot lose them if your Kindle is permanently offline. You'll lose them if you keep wifi off and on intermittently.

Or keep it always offline. Then it can't do any cleanups.

If you leave your Kindle in airplane mode 24/7, you won't lose any eBook because Amazon removed them.

Denying Amazon access to your Kindle is the best way you prevent deleted ebooks, not the cause of it. One way to deny Amazon access is by leaving your Kindle in airplane mode 24/7/365 - the exact opposite of the recommendation above.

If you don't want Amazon deleting your ebooks, then deny Amazon access 24/7/365. There's no better way, actually.

Yes, though it means no sync and only side loaded PD or bought books, no KU or other borrows on the Kindle. The KU is just loans and subscription. The Amazon system needs access to the Kindle to monitor pages read to pay content provider, because that's stupid way Amazon does it instead of them paying the author x amount to be able to loan n simultaneous copies (most other libraries) and royalty per loan no matter if not read at all (Libraries in some countries).

You really need WiFi on all the time for sync & KU.

I used to subscribe to KU when I could "Download&Transfer". But since you can't do that anymore with KU, I don't subscribe to KU anymore.

I don't read very fast, and KU was never a bargain for me at full price. I could buy the books outright for cheaper than I could rent them (buying one of two a month at $2.99 or $3.99 each was cheaper than KU at $9.99 a month for those same books). If you occasionally shut them out for too long with airplane mode, when you finally let them back in again they retaliate by deleting some of your books. Others may be OK with that, but I am not. If to sync your reading positions or use X-Ray or some other feature you have to make a deal with the devil allowing him to delete your books, I'm not going to make that deal.
