Can I set default sort mode for device view?
I would like to sort the device view by 'in library' by default (the other way). Is that possible?

No as far as I recall you cant control initial sort for device view, although perhaps it does remember last used sort, not sure.

I'd be happy just to be able to add a library column to the device view column, e.g. Series.

But wait ![]() Just switch back to Library view (device still there). Search: ondevice: true Presto, all YOUR metadata for those books (if in Library) is available to see |

I don't follow. The search runs and the library window is empty.

Do you have green ticks in device view? (in Library column)
Those should show with the ondevice search. note this assumes you don't have a VL filtering the Library view (that just happens to exclude those). I just tested, and it still works fine Calibre 7.24 W10 |

Did you have your ereader connected to calibre at the time? That is kind of required to have the ondevice column populated.

I'm still confused as to what doing that search is supposed to accomplish; recall that I was simply wishing to be able to add a Series column to the device view. Edit: since the obvious was pointed out to me that the device view is transient according what's on it, I guess that seeing Series there isn't likely possible. |

And my suggestion was to just have Calibre show you those same books in the full (library) view with all the gory details.
This still does non answer why it showed nothing in your case. I know it does work this way, I tested it using my Kindle (Kindles do not have a Series field. Up until they changed things, you could use Kindle Collections for the Series name and the metadata Plugboard to prepend the title with the Series_index) |

Yeah, I've been futzing with the Collections field in device view, trying to get it to emulate Series, but no go. I don't know what Collections is referencing there. Nothing shows and I don't see a way to add something.

I wanted to adjust sort so I could get the unmatched books on top.
