Just change it to what the other one said previously?

x=1/4 means where it starts (1/4 from the left of the screen), so if you change that to 0 it'll start at the dead left
w=3/4 means how wide the touch zone is, so changing it to 1/4 will make it where backward used to be. Or w=1 to cover the entire screen.

Yeah, you can do much the same on Kobo and Kindle.

The process is detailed here.

(Or you could run gdb directly on the device, either way.)
