Other software for Hoopla downloads?

I think this might have been asked before, but without an answer. My library uses Hoopla, Hoopla takes over my LG tablet so that I have to restart the tablet to get out of Hoopla. And the reader app is so bad I usually just give up on the ebook.

So, is there anyway to use a different ebook app with hoopla files? I don't want to keep the books, just read them.
