Working User Profile for Wired.com RSS feeds for libprs500

Well, after some trial and error, I got a fairly decent user-profile working for the various RSS feeds from Wired.com (their news feeds, not the on-line version of the magazine itself, which would be pretty involved but cool if anyone wants to take that on) using Kovid's excellent web2lrf tools (part of the libprs500 package).

Check out this thread (source code is posted there):
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...2&postcount=70

Please try this out and post back any modifications/improvements. It especially needs some help in getting the text a uniform size (some articles use extra small or large fonts).

Thanks and enjoy,

Dave

I'll try to write up a basic HOWTO and put it up on Kovid's wiki for libprs500. New version 0.6 with improved handling of inline images and inline links/URL's up tonight and fixing some text rendering glitches will be up tonight at that thread URL in the first post.

New version 0.6 is posted at the link in the first post. Check it out, inline images and link text are fixed as well as font size uniformity, but the apostrophe's are still a problem.

New Version 0.7 available

Fixed the problems with the apostrophes and other accented characters due to bad UTF-8 encoding by Wired.com (thank's to Kovid's sharp eye and know how).

I'm going to stop posting changed code in the Mobile Forum posts and just post them to Kovid's wiki for libprs500 so that the new versions appear in one unified place. I believe that Kovid has also added a profile for "The Economist" as of the latest version of libprs500 0.4.25

Go here to get the latest version:

https://libprs500.kovidgoyal.net/wiki/UserProfiles

I'll try to get around to writing a basic HOWTO in the next few days. This is gonna be great for travelling/plane trips/commuting.

Enjoy,

Dave

Wrote up a HOWTO and posted it to Kovid's libprs500 page

OK, I put up a quick and dirty and hopefully helpful HOWTO here:
https://libprs500.kovidgoyal.net/wiki/UserProfiles

Hope that helps.
