hummm don't know what Update it was but go to Settings>Advance Options>Storage Management>Quick Archive....
Whats the sense in Buying Kindles with More Storage IF the device is going to Wipe them out after a year? Which is the Longest you can set this for. |

I'm pretty sure that this isn't a setting per se, it's a way to semi-manually free space. Either way, it's not listed on "What's new" for 5.9.4.

Quick Archive only deletes books from your storage if you press the "Remove" button on the bottom. It doesn't do anything automatically. |

When you open You got 4 choices 1 month>3 months> 6 months or 1 Year... No Option for NEVER! So that means you Have to re-download Everything Every year!!
heck You might as well take it back to Factory clean the HD/Storage & re-set it up sheesh. What the point in getting a Kindle with More Storage then.... |

Not true. Those are the choices, but it is not automatic! You must press the REMOVE button for anything to happen and it is a one time event.

You can fix that is a setting on your kindle but it is kinda stupid if you have the 32GB. Its a good feature if you have the 4GB and have too many books Last edited by HLS; 03-16-2018 at 12:01 AM. |

This is completely wrong. Those are the filtering option that apply IF YOU PRESS THE REMOVE BUTTON. There is no automatic removal.

Even if it were automatic, I see no problem with it if you enable it for yourself. It seems quite handy and useful to free up space by removing books you haven't touched in a year or however long you set it to. OP makes it sound like the end of the world. Wow, redownloading an ebook, so hard.

This option looks scary. It wasn't clear to me when I first looked that it only would remove the books _if_ I pressed the Remove button.
