I just arrived from my holidays and read an interesting article about an upcoming Datacenter for logging every move a British citizen does on the www for two years -including emails, IM, and the full history!

Please don't split English from British, it's bad enough when the English themselves do it.....

Actually, it's very interesting how many government measures being passed currently (things like asset recovery, crown court powers) only apply to England & Wales, occasionally Northern Ireland, but not to Scotland (which would require separate enactment).
Causes a headache for those of us based across both jurisdictions.

The so-called Mid-Lothian Question could be a big issue at the next election.

Without Labour support in Scotland, the party would, in most probability, not be the majority party in the Commons...

Not quite true. If you live in Scotland and lose all your life savings to a boiler room scam perpetrated and prosecuted in England and Wales, it affects you, particularly if it then restricts your right to bring a civil case in Scotland, which you might not be able to do at all if it automatically becomes an appeal case!
And vice versa!

You see, they keep talking about peace in the Middle East as if that's a good thing. But just look at the UK and you can see what happens when millenia old hatreds get negotiated out into a peaceful coexistence.
