Poke3 ugly text - fix
The Poke3 (and maybe Poke2?) has "High contrast text" enabled by default.
This causes all white text to have a really ugly border. It even causes black text on white to have a ghost border. There is no standard Onyx setting to disable this? The stock Android Settings seemed to previously have had a problem too. The latest software seemed to have fixed this. You can run the stock Android settings: Code:
C:\>adb shell am start -n com.android.settings/.Settings Or you can: Code:
C:\>adb shell settings put secure high_text_contrast_enabled 0 |

I think this is part of the "whiten app background" app optimization setting that Oynx for some reason makes default despite the fact it looks like ass and actually makes apps in most cases harder to use than easier.

Ok, I take some of this back.
Yes, the problem is that high text contast is running. The problem is more complicated. The main Onyx Activity ignores the settings and overrules them. If you have your own Launcher (home Activity) and do not use the Onyx main page, then the stock settings will be followed. As soon as you go to the Onyx main page it slams it into high contrast mode. This affects more than just text, it will modify some lines too. To clear the mode you have to reboot (until we find a better way). For me, I'll just never go to the Onyx main page. I will try to find out in the kcb.apk where it's doing all this nonsense. |

The settings are also crap with Onyx - Likebook has something similar, but also allows access to the standard Android settings, but Boox has neutered this.

That command above gives you access to stock Android settings.

When trying (Windows 10) I get the massage: device not found.
Edit: I had to activate USB Debugging. Last edited by ottischwenk; 06-13-2021 at 01:39 PM. |

The Onyx "improvements" are stuck together with chewing gum.
If you don't ever run the Onyx home app your sleep images will be screwed up. Simply save your sleep image in: Code:
/data/local/assets/images/standby-1.png /data/local/assets/images/standby-2.png /data/local/assets/images/standby-3.png Or pick 3 images to rotate. |

Thank you ALL!!!!!!!!
My Moon + Ereadrer Pro was completely unusable in my Poke 3. Neither the people at Onyx or the people at Moon+ were able to help me. YOU fixed it for me. Thank you so much. After a long-press on the app, I turned off all optimization. I can use my Poke 3 again now!! Thank you |
