unless you are moving to in internet desert, put a copy of your whole library in cloud storage and configure CC to access that as needed.

i know that at least one other user has said it works with 4000+ books and have not commented on the speed, so maybe it also depends what device you are using.
if your device library is on a slow SD card, could that be a factor ?
If he's using an iPad mini, that doesn't have a SD card.

Which iPad mini he's using makes a big difference. On the latest and greatest which came out this time last year, I'm able to download close to 4,000 with no speed issues. My old iPad mini was a heck of a lot slower than my iPad Pro.

it was you i was thinking of when I said someone has 4k books working
its unclear if he's referring to the operating speed- sorting and browsing on device,; or to the transfer speed which is more like to be a networking wifi speed issue
I cant comment more, I only have a handful of in-progress books on devices, and update those as needed. a single book usually transfers within a couple of seconds, on android.
obviously for transfers, the size of each book matters. 100Mb comics will take longer than 1Mb epubs

That would be me; indeed I have a large library on SD card and I have no speed issues, but consider:
  • my e-reader is a Boyue Likebook Mars, an Android 6.0 e-ink tablet with 2Gbytes RAM and 1.42GHz Freescale RK3365 octa-core processor; not exactly a light weight in CPU terms and hardly a fair base for comparison with other e-readers
  • I have organized (using Calibre options) my e-books files on the HC class 10 32 Gbytes micro SD card using recommended tree file as <about 40 directories each named with one letter using the author's first name initial>/<multiple subdirectories, one per author>/<ebook files, covers and opf files, all listed inside the same subdirectory of its author, no further subdirectories> . The template used by Calibre is {author[0]}/{author:sublist(0,1,&)}/{title} - {author} (id)

It all adds up, so, yea, indeed CC response time for search and filter is nearly instantaneous... but then again I did paid good money (reader, card, software) to get there.

Kind regards,

[INCANUS]

i suggest chicleeblair has a conversation with PMrev, the devloper,

there's a direct email for feedback here somewhere.
share the device specs and some speed benchmarks and ask if he is seeing expected speeds or not.

there's not much that others can do except post their own experiences, but prospective buyers would probably like to see the outcome of that.
