Death in Sicily is an omnibus of the first three titles in the Inspector Montalbano series by Andrea Camilleri. It has dropped to $1.99 at Kindle and Kobo US. I really like this series, and judging by the reader rankings on Amazon, a lot of other folks do too, so if you haven't tried this series, and think you might want to, this is a great chance to pick up the first three books for a great price...

I'm not a huge Wilbur Smith fan, but I remember some folks upthread were, so...

The Eye of the Tiger is a non-series title by Wilbur Smith. It has dropped to $1.99 at Kindle and Kobo US.

Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/Eye-Tiger-Wil...dp/B078B84FXZ/
Kobo US: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/the-eye-of-the-tiger-8

Spoiler:
Quote:
An action-packed thriller from global bestseller Wilbur Smith

"It takes one to recognise one. This was a man trained to live with and by violence. He was muscle, a soldier, in the jargon. I had hoped never to see this kind of barracuda cruising St Mary's placid waters. It gave me a sick little slide in the guts to know that it had found me out again." He left that life behind. But that life hasn't left him... Harry Fletcher lives a quiet life these days, running a tourist fishing boat from the quiet island of St Mary's, off the South African coast. Then his next group arrives, with very specific instructions for Harry -instructions that suggest they know exactly who he is. Before he knows it, Harry has been swept back into a world of greed and violence, of men who will do anything to get their hands on the treasure under the sea, and of women who are too beautiful to trust. But when the Great Mogul diamond is the prize, all Harry knows is that he'll do anything to get there first...

Not counting the stories that were merged to become Red Harvest and The Dain Curse, there were 28 Continental Op stories. The Giant Collection of the Continental Op has 23 of them. I wonder why they don't push for a complete collection?

Rights issues, I guess.

Sweet Revenge is the 14th in the Goldy Schulz series by Diane Mott Davidson. It has dropped to $1.99 at Kindle US, not matched at Kobo US.

link: https://www.amazon.com/Sweet-Revenge...dp/B000VMHHNA/

Spoiler:
Quote:
Goldy Schulz is thrilled to be catering a holiday breakfast feast for the staff of the Aspen Meadow Library. But little does she know that on the menu, alongside the Great Expectations Grapefruit, Chuzzlewit Cheese Pie, and Bleak House Bars, is a large helping of murder.

While setting up at the library, Goldy spots a woman lurking in the stacks who bears a striking resemblance to Sandee Brisbane—the Sandee Brisbane who killed Goldy's ex-husband, the Jerk. But Sandee is supposed to be dead. Or so everyone believes.

Goldy's suspicions mount when the body of Drew Wellington, a former district attorney, is found in a corner of the library with a map worth thousands of dollars stashed in his clothing. She's convinced that Sandee is involved.

But the holiday madness is only just beginning for Goldy. Soon she's drawn into the dangerous, double-crossing world of high-end map dealing. And like the ghost of Christmas past, Sandee keeps making an appearance. Could she be out to prove that revenge is sweet?

Trojan Gold is the fourth in the Vicky Bliss series by Elizabeth Peters. It has dropped to £0.99 at Kindle UK. Although this series is, I think, much less known than Peters' Amelia Peabody series, I actually like this series just a smidge more. Both are great series, though...

Spoiler:
Quote:
More from Vicky Bliss - the new heroine from the creator of the bestselling Amelia Peabody series

A picture is worth a thousand words - but the photograph art historian Vicky Bliss has just received gives rise to a thousand questions instead. A quick glance at the blood-stained envelope is all the proof she needs that something is horribly wrong. The photo itself is familiar: a woman adorned in the gold of Troy. Yet this isn't the famous photograph of Frau Schliemann - this photo is contemporary. And the gold, as Vicky and her fellow academics know - disappeared at the end of World War II. And now this circle of experts is gathered for a festive Bavarian Christmas - including a very determined killer.

Original Death is the 3rd in the Duncan McCallum series by Eliot Pattison. It has dropped to $3.85 at Kindle US. This is not a great price for a 2013 title, but Pattison's books tend to range $8 and up (mostly up), so this is not too bad. I've quite liked the titles in Pattison's Shan Tao Yun series that I've read (some in DTB), but haven't tried this series yet.

link: https://www.amazon.com/Original-Deat...dp/B00C0JIZ56/

Spoiler:
Quote:
Despite the raging war between French and British, Scottish exile Duncan McCallum has begun to settle into a new life on the fringes of colonial America, traveling the woodlands with his companion Conawago, even joining the old Indian on his quest to find the last surviving members of his tribe. But the joy they feel on reaching the little settlement of Christian Indians is shattered when they find its residents ritually murdered. As terrible as the deaths may be, Conawago perceives something even darker and more alarming: he is convinced they are a sign of a terrible crisis in the spiritworld which he must resolve.

Trying to make sense of the murders, Duncan is accused by the British army of the crime. Escaping prison to follow the trail of evidence, he finds himself hounded by vengeful soldiers and stalked by Scottish rebels who are mysteriously trying to manipulate the war to their advantage. As he pieces together the puzzle of violence and deception he gradually realizes that it may not only be the lives of Duncan and his friends that hang in the balance, but the very survival of the native tribes. When he finally discovers the terrible truth, Duncan is forced to make a fateful choice between his beloved Highland clans and the woodland natives who have embraced and protected him.

Mistakenly in Mallorca is the first in the Inspector Alvarez series by Roderic Jeffries. It is a US Kindle Countdown deal at $0.99 for about 4 1.4 more days.

link: https://www.amazon.com/Mistakenly-Ma...dp/B06Y1NVFS9/

Spoiler:
Quote:
There is no real justice in the world…

Elvina Woods's death at her home in Mallorca is sudden and unexpected.

Another few days and her great-nephew would have inherited, through her, enough to buy the English farm he craves.

So when he returns to the house and finds her dead, his first thought is to conceal her death for a short time, his second how to do it.

It is only after that begins to question whether such an action was wise…

But – still grieving for his recently murdered fiancée – John Tatham already has enough reason to despise the law's insistence on the letter rather than the spirit. And he plans his deception carefully.

Elvina was not exactly popular with the English community on the island, nor with certain Mallorquins. And with her peculiar reputation, oft to acting impulsively, few would enquire about the mad woman if she were not seen around.

And when, later, her body was discovered, her death would be seen to be a fatal accident ...

Unfortunately, Tatham fails to reckon with Inspector Alvarez, the local policeman, with whom he has more in common than he thought.

And he fails to reckon with the fact that to a policeman his own role would look highly suspect.

Has Tatham in effect framed himself? And has he, in doing so, inadvertently involved himself in another's crime?

Mistakenly in Mallorca is filled with ingenious twist and turns that will keep you hooked.

The Rachel Alexander and Dash Mysteries is an omnibus of the first three titles in this series by Carol Lea Benjamin. It has dropped to $2.49 at Kindle US, which is a pretty nice price if you need all three books. Some of these have been on sale individually though, so check carefully before you buy...

Titles are:
  • This Dog for Hire
  • The Dog Who Knew Too Much
  • A Hell of a Dog

Kindle UK has had a "first in series for 99p and up" sale on for a while, and I finally got around to checking it. There are a lot of repeat titles, but I found a couple of interesting new (to me, at least) Amazon Crossing titles. It's only on until Monday, so you'll need to check it out soon if you might be interested. There are a lot of titles, too many to list, so you'll just have to take a look...

The Beast is the 21st in the Decker/Lazarus series by Faye Kellerman. It has dropped to $1.99 at Kindle US (not at Kobo US, at least as of now).

link: https://www.amazon.com/Beast-Decker-...dp/B009NFDJEC/

Spoiler:
Quote:
The professional and the personal intersect in treacherous ways in this compelling and eerie installment in Faye Kellerman's thrilling New York Times bestselling Decker/Lazarus series

Throughout his years with the LAPD, Peter Decker has handled a number of tough cases and strange killers. But few of his previous assignments compare to his latest case—the most bizarre of his storied career.

When Hobart Penny is found dead in his apartment, the cops think that his pet cat—an adult female tiger—attacked the reclusive elderly billionaire. But it soon becomes clear that the beast that killed the eccentric inventor is all too human. Digging into the victim's life, Decker and his colleagues, Detectives Marge Dunn and Scott Oliver, discover that Penny was an exceptionally peculiar man with exotic tastes, including kinky sex with call girls.

Following a trail of clues that leads from a wildlife sanctuary in the San Bernardino Mountains to the wild nightlife of Las Vegas, the LAPD detectives are left juggling too many suspects and too few answers. To break open a case involving the two most primal instincts—sex and murder—Decker wrestles with a difficult choice. Should he turn to a man with expert knowledge of both, Chris Donatti, the dangerous man who also happens to be the father of Decker's foster son, Gabriel Whitman, a boy not without his own problems?

As their work and intimate worlds collide, Decker and his wife, Rina, find themselves facing tough questions. It just might be that family crises and work-related responsibilities prove too much for Decker's career. A confluence of ordeals can stress even the most intact of families. And when all these shocking truths comes out, exactly how well will Decker and Rina cope, and survive?
