Keeping series with different authors sorted together

Curious if anyone else has run into this situation.

I've got the Hitchhiker series by Douglas Adams. However, the last book in the series is by Eoin Colfer.

I have calibre to sort library first by authors and that would break the grouping of series.

Potential solutions:
-Just include Douglas Adam as the first author (which feels blasphemous).
-Use manage author so Eoin Colfer's author sort is Adams, Douglas (kinda kludgy).

Any other solutions I have missed?

Wouldn't use the second one, you may get other books by Colfer and you'll be scratching your head why they appear out of order.

Put something on the last Hitchhiker book by Adams to indicate there are other books in the series by different authors. I'd use an integer column that if set would colour the series cell or show an icon. When you see it use Quick View of the series.

Not sure it would be worth it unless you have a lot of series like this, but you could create a custom column - something like "Universe Creator" - and use that for the author name you want the series to sort under.

Or you could do as you suggested and list Douglas Adams as first author, given that it is his universe that Colfer was writing in, his characters that Colfer was writing about.

It's your library. Just add Douglas Adams. You know he didn't write it. I do the same with other collections, the primary or original author of the collection is listed first so it sorts the series together.

add Douglas Adams (creator) in the author field.
Author sort ignores the green
