about 1700 books. One laptop is my favorite with Windows 10 which is getting old. The processor will not work with Windows 11. It is a Sony Tap 20 which is 10 years old, but it is like a giant tablet or a stand up desktop. I hate that it is getting old. It is too heavy to travel with. My new Windows 11 laptop is a 14" and perfect for traveling, but too hard to read the words on a 14".
Thanks for the help. |

I've also found 14'' too small to use as a daily driver. So I got a 12'' Surface Pro for traveling, and at home I use a laptop with a 15.6'' screen. That's large enough for me.

My Tap 20 is 20". Easy to read 2 split screens. My 14" laptop also does split screen but I cannot read it. I hate getting old! LOL

My laptop is a 17.3" screen with a resolution is 2560x1440. It's a quite nice screen.

Sounds like I need a 17" screen. I have a 11" Lenovo tablet that I can read easily. Not sure why I have such trouble with the Acer 14". I am using the Lenovo right now, and no problems at all.

Screen ratio may be one reason. 16:9 is a lousy ratio for anything besides watching movies.

Is the Calibre export NOT a complete backup? It says "books, settings and plugins". I've been assuming I'm safe with the export.

The drawback is that you can't update it incrementally - you'll have to export the whole enchilada every time you change something. A real PITA with a large library.

Agreed. That's why FreeFyleSync (IMHO) is best. You only have to copy what's new or changed after the first backup.

And just as importantly you only have to recover what you lost, e.g. a single book, a single format, or just a cover. I have never needed to restore an entire library, but I have needed to restore a book or a format file a number of times. BR |

I have free file sync for general backup, including Calibre. But I also use the export feature, zip it up, and copy it to multiple locations. I’ve used it several times over the last decade or so when transferring to a new computer.
