Angry MACOS (10 and older) Kindle reader

The current Kindle reader app can't be installed on "older" (Intel) Macs (using MACOS 10) and the older Kindle app (1.40) that can be found on public sites (I did try 1.40 and 1.23) will not work with new kindle books (allow only the WEB version books). Does anybody know any way around that? iPads and iPhones work OK (with the Kindle application) - can the iPAD book files be transferred to MACOS10 Kindle?

I am not a Mac user, but it might be possible to run the Kindle for PC app a Windows emulator such as Parallels.

Almost all Kindle books are DRM locked to the particular app instance that they were delivered to. They are not transferable.

You could probably run the kindle app via wine.

Thanks - it was suggested by several colleagues. I wanted to avoid "replacing" all my book-libraries, continue using calibre for catalogs, play the books on the road on iPads. If I go for windows I assume that I have to rearrange all this and "start a new life".

You could use one of the various hacks to allow you to install a newer MacOS.

That wouldn’t change the fact that the new Kindle app won’t work with Intel Macs.

Gotta love how these sorts of problems mostly plague Macs. Well done Apple.

But calibre and Kindle work on Windows 10.

What do you mean by "MACOS 10"? Because MacOS X 10.0 was released in 2001, and surely you can't be complaining about lack of current software support for that?
