Reading hiatus
I haven't read any fiction in almost a month. Normally I'm voracious, reading two or three books a week, but lately I just can't get going.

I'm reading a lot of other stuff, including proofing and editing my latest WIP, but not other people's fiction. Maybe I'm protecting my mind from confusion? Keeping other fiction out so as not to mix it up with mine? Could be. We'll see when my book is out.

Anyway, if you are enjoying a great deal of fiction, congratulations and take a moment to be grateful. You could be like me.-)

I've had times when I have read non-fiction for my personal reading for several weeks. Several of those times were when I was formatting ebooks for others and wanted something to cleanse my mental palate.

Generous. I hope they noticed. Formatting is a chore, but doesn't have to take too long if things go right. Proofing and editing is much more time consuming. Were they friends?

The original time was for a friend of my wife who was having issues with KDP rejecting her book. The friend then recommended me to several of her friends and it grew into a part time hobby business. Proofing isn't that time consuming and I do not do editing.

More like stories that I never wanted to read in a genre that my wife loves and I find most books in that genre to be cold pancakes and no honey. OTOH, few of the authors complain about allowing my wife to read them. The old saw about happy wife, happy life.

Well, it worked. I put my book to bed a few weeks ago and now I'm reading at my old pace. Great to read other people's stories again. I missed it.
