Some folks haven't finished last month's selection, to say nothing of Gone With The Wind.

The Thirty-Nine Steps!
Half the length of Shutter Island, and it's FREE!
That's me you're talkin' about buddy....
But you voted for Mystic River!

That's only cause I forgot about Shutter Island.

I may not have time this month to read it anyway, so I just threw my vote away.....kinda like voting for the libertarian candidate.

Noooo! Go dead(ish), go! It's the only book that's out of the thriller, action movie set! Where hero undergoes <traumatic/conspiracy event> and goes on <vengeance/whatever>.

I don't believe that statement is entirely accurate. The description of Resurrection sounds like it would be along those lines, that is why I chose it. Dead(ish) feels like it would be geared more toward a female audience. Just my $.02

They can stick their $10 up their proverbial.....
I think unless it is a specialised technical book $5 should pull it up every time.

Yep, I voted for Thirty-Nine Steps. Shutter Island is not available in Australia, I believe... It's also rather expensive.

For those in the USA with the luck to have Overdrive libraries, Shutter Island is available from some Overdrive libraries. So then it's free.

Unless we are going to restrict the book club choices by price/geo restriction etc etc, I think we are always going to struggle to get books that are available everywhere to all the MR members - it's just the nature of the beast that we all discuss at length in other threads. I guess that's a decision for the originators of the Book Club.
