epub display issue on sony 505 - pages on top of each other

Still learning how to use ePub on 505. I have no trouble with most files, but this one has some issues.

I converted a CHM file to epub (CHM - unpack-> html -> epub by Calibre). it displays fine on the desktop with Calibre viewer, but certain pages are overlapped on 505 (see attached picture).

Is there a way to fix it?

I don't know what the problem is, so I do not know how to give more details. Please give me a hint.

It almost looks like the page hasn't fully refreshed the image. If you go back and forward a page, does it still do it?

It is not a refreshing issue.

it takes ~15 sec to go back or forth. Notice the page number in the picture is 130 - 168. when go back, page number becomes 129, which is displayed as a blank page (odd); page number becomes 169 when go forward.

looks like you'll need to edit the CSS in the ePub as the line height may be incorrect.

Here is the picture after I zoomed in (larger font). the overlapping is still there.

I thought the total number of page (449) would change after the text being re-formatted, but it stays the same.

It is not a css line space problem either. the book shows fine on the desktop computer. the second picture show the perfect lines displayed. The page does have its own problem: page 197-207 are all here. next page (208) is a blank. So I lost 10 pages here too.

the original CHM has one large table that contains all the content in each page. so 505 cannot display a rather large table in one page. after removing the table tabs from the html files, the new ePub seems to work fine in 505 now.
