It is what it says - the Windows Installer is unable to write to the location in which you are trying to install calibre. In this case the Windows default location for 64 bit software.

Q1 Are you running 32 bit Windows?
Q2 Is this a fresh install of calibre?

I wanted to update the already installed version of Calibre and used a 64-bit installer.

D:\Program Files\Calibre2 is not the standard default location, standard default is C:\Program Files\Calibre2

Any reason for that?

If the D: drive, or D:\Program Files directory don't exist the installer won't be able to create the Calibre2 subdirectory.

This directory exists.
This directory was created during the installation of Clibre 7.0 and at the moment it has not gone anywhere, and I have not performed any manipulations with this folder. (D:\Program Files\Calibre2)

Uninstall calibre, delete d:\Program Files\Calibre2. Re-install calibre

If you worry, just rename the folder to something you like, then proceed with the advice.
