You never know how good (or bad) customer service is until you need it. I am a huge fan and long time customer of Amazon.com, so I have had a few occasions to use their CS and have had 100% satisfaction. Unrushed, engaged, helpful. Excellent customer service is what turns a vendor into a partner. Other CS winners...
Ally Bank Liberty Mutual Staples I can't think of any other CS that isn't terrible. |

I've only had two instances where Amazon chat wasn't helpful. One eventually got straightened out via email. For the most part they have great customer service.
I do miss being able to ship items back via USPS. Having to go to the UPS store is not as convenient for me. |

Amazon is also one of my favorites in terms of customer service. My other two top companies are Go Daddy and Dell. (I fully realize that many people do have issues with Dell's service, but I think an encounter some time back resulted in a note on my account because ever since then, they have been amazing.)

I worked for a company that named itself Cadabra, and ya, Amazon made the right move.

Several years ago, I was trying to search for something on Amazon and due to the way their music search worked, the search results were useless. I emailed back and forth with their customer service people for some time - they kept sending me one boilerplate response after another, none of which related to my question.
I could have understood if whoever I was emailing with had just said, I'm sorry, our search currently does not have the ability to find what you're looking for. But no, they just kept ignoring my question entirely and sending me useless crap responses. I discovered that Barnes and Noble had a better music search that would find what I was looking for, so I bought the product there. I have never bought anything from Amazon again due to the way they handled my question. |

Their phone customer support might be great, but their email support is terrible.

I've only used their customer service once when I was having a problem with my Kindle 3G. I was completely and utterly shocked when I received a phone call from them in under 5 minutes from when I submitted my form.
When I saw that I could expect a quick turnaround, I scoffed because I'm in Australia and I thought there was no way they would give that prompt service to Aussies (cynical guy that I am). Suddenly I have a phone call and I was gobsmacked. As for the service in the call itself, I don't think the response was brilliant in the end and there could be been better ways to go. It did actually solve my issue but it was more a brute force approach (factory reset) to what was most likely the classic indexing problem. At least he got me to back up the contents of my Kindle before he had me wipe everything - so could have been worse. |

Amazon's CS is great = Amazon's phone/human CS is great. Don't even bother with anything else. |
