Dictionary Crash.
Hi all, I've had the PRS-600 for two days now, I am very happy with the way it reads and the extra features are great, but there is a problem, if I try to select a dictionary to use the device immediately and without warning restarts. I figured it must be something to do with the firmware so I flashed using the software on Sony's website, but still it keeps crashing on the dictionary selection, It seems that the dictionary is not part of the firmware and may be corrupted. If anyone could give me any insight on this I would be extremely grateful.

Do you mean that on initial startup, when you select which language and dictionary that the reader crashes?

You can try selecting another dictionary (the choice is British or American English). See if it helps. |

No, device is set up and works fine, but there is no dictionary selected, when I go into the settings to select a dictionary(any dictionary), I press the OK button and it instantly resets the Reader. |

What is your menu language? If you set it to German for example, the dictionary gets disabled (Sony obviously thought that Germans do not read english books).

You're awesome. I changed the language to something other than english, then I was able to select the dictionary, then simply changed the language back to english. But it is not giving me definitions when I highlight words.

Hmm. Sounds strange. If you had chosen english as menu language, you should have been able to select one of the two dictionaries right away. Really strange.
Maybe the dictionary really is messed up. Did you try both dictionaries yet? |

Yeah thats what I figured. I'll live with it for now, I've only had it a day but I don't think I can go a day without it. Thank's for all your help.

You're welcome. But don't forget to claim an exchange some time soon. Not that you get stuck with a bad reader.
