How do Locations work?
I've looked around on the internet for an explanation of how the kindle determines locations. I'm assuming it's an mobi thing, not a kindle thing, but correct me if I'm wrong.
by locations, i mean the numbers at the bottom of the kindle screen, used as 'page numbers', to navigate the book. Is it a paragraph count? is it a paging issue? |

It's a Kindle thing, and is a count of every 128 bytes of the file. ie, a count of 8 for each 1k of file, so a 100k file will have about 800 locations.

hm. i guess that makes locations edition-specific? (though a couple of bytes of difference wouldn't mean much) if it is, then locations are no better than page numbers, and amazon is silly. >_>...
well, thanks. |

They are a little better in that they are independent of font size.
