Problem moving between columns in main view.

I've an issue advancing from one column to the next with Tab key. This issue is happening from calibre 7.24 onwards. I thought it was fixed in calibre 8.01 but it doesn't look like that.

I've got a defined view (see attached picture).

'Fecha Lec' is a date column, 'Valorac' is a rating column, 'Review' is "Long text, like comments, doesn't show in tag browser' and 'Bingo' is "Text divided by commas, like tags, will show in tag browser". This is the same order that is defined in when I open the screen for managing custom columns.

If I begin editin 'Fecha Lec' and advance with tab to 'Valorac', it works ok. If, after editing 'Valorac', I press tab again, the focus doesn't go to 'Review' but 'Bingo' and if I continue pressing tab, eventually it will land in the next row, but not the 'Review' field.

Yes, I con go inside the 'Review' field with mouse and editing and it's annoying. As I say, I've been in 7.23 till now because of that.

IIRC it was deliberately changed to skip over non editable columns and log text columns because they are edited in a poup not inline. See the original thread where this was discussed. Possibly @chaley will remember why it was done that way. I guess because popups interrupt the tabbing flow.

I don't understand. There was no interruption before in the flow, you could use Ctrl+Enter and go to the view and the next colums. Now, however, I have to use mouse or going only to that field.

Could you please tell me which is the original thread so I can understand the reason for this change?

you cant keep pressing tab to go past a column that is edited with a popup. That is the interruption. Am on mobile right now so cant search for the original thread.

Ok, the problem is that I want to edit THAT column, not the next one. And thank you, I’ll try to find it.

Could it be made such that shift tab does what tab does except that it also goes goes to the columns with a popup?

I've read the thread that Kovid mentions and I think it's better to leve "as is", as chaley said that it had been too time-consuming to change things in that way. I'll have to use 2 key strokes instead of 1, that's all.
