Using a Fire tablet without registering it
My Fire 10 just updated to 7.3.2.3. I don't register the tablet with Amazon. There are many advantages for me not registering it. I won't go into them unless someone is interested.
After an OS upgrade, it has always been tricky but possible to get past the initial screens without actually signing in. It seems to me, though, that it becomes trickier with each update. With 7.3.2.3, it looked for a couple of minutes that I would have to register it to get to the home screen. Finally, by repeating some steps it said were errors, I was able to tap "skip" and go to the home screen. My question is how likely is it that Amazon will require in a future update that a device be registered before allowing the owner to actually use their device. |
