Adding books with the same titles by replacing them
It would be nice to be able to add books with the same titles and being able to choose Replace and Replace All options. Alternatively the same problem can be solved by a feature allowing to find and remove duplicates.

Where this can be used? For example, some Kindle books get updates. Others are re-downloaded in newer formats when using a newer version of Kindle for PC. This is a big problem when having a large collection of books.

Look at the automerge feature in Preferences -> Adding books, the Find Duplicates plugin, and the manual merge feature of calibre.

As well as what kiwidude suggests, if you select a book in calibre and drag-and-drop a new version on the metadata area of the calibre window, it will replace the existing file in the calibre library.
