Why Calibre put a number at the folders?
My Calibre always writes a number (*) at the end of the folder name where (inside the folder: author) it saves the book information (book, metadata, cover image, etc.):
\My Kindle Content\George Orwell\1984 (104)* What is the function of this? Can I avoid it? How? Thank you very much! |

To make certain that the folder is unique
No Don't - leave Calibre folders alone and don't try to manually do anything -- use the main program Last edited by phossler; 02-08-2020 at 12:33 PM. |

All of the above
That number is also the same used for {id} That ties the DB entry to a specific Book Folder. You may have intentional duplicates. eg You have both English and German editions. only 'Languages' (ISBN is often wrongly entered)in the Metadata make this obvious Do read the FAQ at the main Calibre Help page DO NOT mess with the file/folder names. That breaks the linkages stored inside My Kindle Content (folder) . That seriously messes with the last rule. Calibre needs an Exclusive set of folder (AKA 'The Library'). The only Adds. Deletes or changes need to be done by Calibre so everything is properly recorded in the DB. |

What's been said already. DO NOT use your Kindle Content folder as a Calibre Library. Calibre needs to have complete control over its libraries, with nothing else messing in there. Use the Add books button to add your Kindle books to your Calibre Library (yes, that will create duplicate copies and yes, Calibre is meant to create them).
