Are definition listst <dl> suitable for dictionary like entries?

Hi all,

Are definition lists at all suitable for dictionary like entries?

Here I'm thinking of the term being followed by the definition in the same paragraph. Like in:

Term. Word naming an object or concept.

I've seen them styled like tables, but never flowed into the same paragraph. is that possible and if so, is the technique generally supported be ereaders?
