CODE tag not working?
Hi, I was trying to show how someone how to do a link and wanted to use the CODE tags, but it worked more like the QUOTE tags and continued to parse the code. I ended up putting spaces in it eg [ URL] and [/URL ] so he could see the code, and someone else put hashes in, but he still had trouble understanding. Is it possible to have the CODE tags stop the code from being parsed so people can explain to the non-html-savvy how to use it?
Thanks. |

Jehane, you could add noparse tags inside the code tags.
Without noparse tags: Code:

Click quote on previous post to see how it is written.
You could skip the code tags altogether, if it suits you, and just use the noparse tags. . Last edited by Javed; 02-09-2011 at 06:18 AM. |

Aha! Thanks Javed. That is exactly what I was looking for (and what I had assumed the CODE tags would do).

In the Advanced posting mode, if you scroll down below the post to "Additional Options", you'll see a box marked "Automatically parse links in text". It is checked by default, but if you remove the check mark, it disables links in the post. (It only works for URLs.)
