SD Cards that work or don't work with the eDGe

It would be good to collect everyone's experience with SD cards on the eDGe. Apparently many, but not all, SD cards work with it. Please post results if you have tested a particular SD card and found it to work/not work or if you have any issues that may be card-specific (as opposed to an issue that relates to ANY SD card). Please include card brand name, model, and capacity.

I'm using a Patriot 16GB class 6, it works, but the Edge does not recognize it if I dismount and return it while the Edge is on. I need to reboot to get it to see the card.

Edit: My Edge was sent in due to issues and replaced; the replacement recognizes the SD with no problems.

Works fine: Patriot 32GB SDHC Class 4

I do not experience the problem reported for a Patriot 16GB SDHC card where the edge has to be powered down to properly unmount the card.

The back of the card says:
PSF32GSDHC4-PC
SD-K32G
0947 TV7944C

It would be nice to know the actual SD socket hardware, if it anyone would like to open up their edge and take a peek at the chip.

Does the speed make much difference in the eDGe? I'd love to save $ :-)

Cool. I've got a 16GB Sandisk Class 4, but I don't have much to put on it yet. I have thousands of books earmarked at Google Books, though ; -)

Don't really know how much of a difference it makes. However, I do keep everything of the SD card and add to the library if I need table of contents supported (feature request: allow table of contents for PDFs on SD cards). I just did a quick test with a file I had open yesterday. It's a 42.5MB, image-based PDF. It took less than 3 seconds to open the file and bring up the full-page diagram I was last on.

I am using a Sandisk Extreme III Class 10 32GB with no problems. I have no idea if the speed much different from a Class 4 or Class 6 on the eDGe. What I care about, though, is being able to pop out the SD card and copy massive amounts of data from the PC quickly (e.g. PDF or MP3 library, videos), when necessary. There the speed definitely does make a difference

I'm using a 16GB Sandisk SDHC Card. Works beautifully. No problem installing/mounting to it and no issues since.

Well I use a 32GB SDHC card from Centon (Class 6). No compatibility problems at all with it.

I'm using a SanDisk Ultra class 4. No problems thus far. Although I did have a usb drive that didn't work and then I remembered that I have a couple usb drives that I formatted in Mac Extended. So those don't work.

have two that do not work in the edge but work in every other SD slot device I have.

Kingmax 8Gb SDHC Class 6
Transcend 16GB SDHC Class 6

I get a "Damaged SD Card" message. However both of these cards are fresh from the box.

I have a 2GB MicroSD card with an adaptor that works find but is very slow.

Chas-
You can now move your library on to the SD Card. It will not be reversible though. You can have multiple libraries by just replacing the SD card with a new one.

To move your library entirely, open the Apps menu, select Settings, Select Data Storage Device. Select SD Card. Read the warning since it does take some time and will reboot your device.
