Need to be downtown for 8:30am tomorrow for f..ing Jury Duty!

Guess I'll go for either the 7:13am or 6:43am train and then subway up to the courthouse. Ugh.

Will make sure to take my cane and do all I can do to get excused (vision issues, mobility issues).

Well I decided not to use the train this morning (had been lots of track work over the weekend and I wasn't sure if service would be fully restored) so took the bus and subway.

Due to lots of construction at the subway stations I would normally have driven too, I just drove up to the townhouse complex where my unit is still undergoing repairs and parked there

Sidewalks were a bit slippery; had a light snow fall over night but made it down with tons of time to spare.

The last time I was called for Jury Duty, I didn't end up on the jury. My guess as to why not might have to due with that back then, my cousin was a Federal Court Judge of Massachusetts and I had to list him on the paperwork the court make you fill out.

However, my wife was called for Jusry Duty and ended up on the Grand Jury.

I've got a new slogan for Dremel: "At least we're better than Harbor Freight!"

But they're not. Buy a crappy, under-powered motor tool from Harbor Freight at least they throw in a set of four collets. I've got a brand-new Dremel 3000 and I bought the little overpriced small drill set and have no way to use them. Dremel gives you the one 1/8" (3.2mm) collet.

Oh, Dremel sells a set of four collets for $10 because they sell you the nut, which you don't need and the 1/8" collet, which you don't need.

Yeah. All of us released so we're now ineligible to be called for the next 3 years. Only one jury needed to be filled and that was yesterday.

Currently on the train home (far easier than bus and subway)!

So, I'm at my "low quality, but even lower prices!" discount store near me.
They sell a 198 piece multitool accessory kit for $8 which includes three collets.
Even more amazing, they include the three that I need without duplicating the one that I have.

And the assortment comes in a nice plastic case which doesn't fit inside the Dremel tool case.

Ok, the $10 keyboard that I bought is kind of junk, but it works.

I still get a laugh out of the number of people I know who picked up a computer for home use and were talked into a laptop by the salesfolk. Now their laptop lives at home with 1 or 2 large screen monitors, keyboard, mouse, external camera, etc. connected either directly or using a docking station. Basically, their laptop is an expensive desktop replacement since many of them will never use it outside their home.

Ordered a bag of dry cat food, plus other items, from Target this week. The cat food arrived today. It's a 7 lb bag. Normally it comes in a box. The shipper literally slapped a label on the bag and sent it via UPS. Even the delivery driver was aghast about how it was shipped.

I am also amazed at people who have some ginormous laptop at home that will never move an inch.

I always counted myself as a "desktop forever" person. I always built by parts and even made my own enclosure. I've never owned a personal laptop until a year ago. I spent $450 on a 13.3" laptop (+ $100 to go to 1 TB myself). The three extended tourist trips I took with a small backpack (not a trekking one) would have been unendurable without access to coding and resources.

So now I have a USB 3 hub with DP to HDMI, PD, ethernet and a 7 port USB 2 hub. My laptop connects on a single cable thanks to USB Type C. How much I will still use my laptop portably is unknown.
