Not unexpected I think... At least you announce it long enough before and are actively searching for someone new.

I wish you ALL the best in the world. You have given us a great tool already...

Best of luck for the future, Valloric; I know from my own experience as a developer how hard that must have been to write, but given your circumstances it's probably for the best.

I can even hope that a future maintainer will add a hyperlink editor .

Best of luck in your future endeavours, and thanks for a great application (and may it have a long life), also thanks for your cool-headed attitude here in the forums and in the bug tracker, that's always a great "feature" in any developer (though not as common amongst devs as it should be).

Good luck in your future! I hope development of Sigil will remain as good as now (or maybe better) in the future and the software won't die.

Best of luck for the future; I hope you'll have a lot of success! Sigil is a great program and I really appreciate all the hard work and effort you invested into making it what it is.

Oh, screw this "good luck for the future" crap; STAY!

I know your future with {mumble, mumble) is assured, and that's great, and you have to pay attention to the drudgeries that the rest of us endure, called making a living...but DAMN.

All that spewage aside, for those of us who can't BE the maintainer, is there anything we can do to FIND or help find a GOOD maintainer/developer? Any help we can provide with our own abilities and resources? Seriously?

And, despite the voodoo doll on my desk, with the fiery Eye of Sauron (I have another phrase for it, unsuitable for any forum in which youngsters might wander) avatar glued to its head with the pins sticking out of it, I really do begrudgingly wish you well.

See, that's one of the beauties of open source software. It only dies if people let it die. If I was a commercial company and I suddenly decided to stop working on Sigil, you'd be screwed with no recourse. But Sigil is OSS, and you can always just take the original source code and continue development on your own.

I know of at least one Chinese company that is distributing it's own modified version of Sigil (for free). They tailored it to a Chinese audience since I didn't provide a translation framework in their desired timeframe. Frankly I think that's awesome, and it's the whole point of OSS.

If you lack the programming skills but have the resources, you can hire someone to work on Sigil full time (just not me, I'm taken). They don't even need to become the official maintainer to contribute; whoever does become the maintainer would certainly welcome any help they can provide (I know I would).

That's really sad. I hope you don't forget sigil altogether

Well, maybe i'll do a bit of coding at some point, if something hits my nerves seriously enough, but I seriously lack time to do more. I'm coding some library management program.

Didn't all employees at <muumble> get to spend time on some personal project?

Anyway, as I assume many eBook producers use Sigil to produce and edit ebooks as well as Indy authors it definitely has it's audience. Sadly this group mostly lacks the skills and/or the time to take over the future development of Sigil. For now the current stable version is quite useful and serves most of the needs.

I hope you still be able to keep an eye on Sigil and hopefully a few good people will eventually move this software on.

Good luck.
