Custom Column Disappeared

For years my wife and I have been using calibre to organize our ebooks and really love the app. We had created a custom column called "Read" to keep track of each book that we had read and wanted to read. Now suddenly that column is gone and with it all of the information we had input.

Is there any way of restoring it?

If you right-click the header columns, is it under the 'Show Column' submenu?

No, the column was gone. I tried creating it again, but the info we had input - who had read each book - is gone.

Where is your library stored? On a single computer? On a NAS or other cloud storage?

Something is missing in what you tell so far;
What event(s) happened before this??

Did someone move to another computer or try to rebuild / restore because some error message showed up?

Did 2 computers access this file (ANY kind of Network shares are a recipe for corruption. The content server is the only safe way for more than the 1 user access).

Calibre has extra files stored to help rebuild (NOT RE-add) that construct all the custom columns before proceeding. A simple ADD has no knowledge of those extras.

Sadly, I'd suspect that re-creating the column would've overwritten it in the OPF.

Yep. The background process (backup the metadata) would fire off soon after the restart.
