Lightbulb Free (DRM-free PDF) Evolutionary Ecology of Plant-Plant Interactions [Science Models]

Evolutionary ecology of plant-plant interactions: An empirical modelling approach by Christian Damgaard, professor of Bioscience at Aarhus University, is his monograph on Exactly What It Says In The Title, free courtesy of the Aarhus University Press in Denmark.

This is their featured English-language free ebook of the month for June, and is a highly technical title for specialists studying in the field (or at least serious amateur enthusiasts with decent maths skills).

Currently free throughout June directly @ the university press' webpage (DRM-free PDF available worldwide).

Description
Concepts and simple empirical models that are useful in the study of the quantitative aspects of evolutionary ecology of plant-plant interactions are discussed and developed, and the use of simple empirical models in the statistical analysis of plant ecological data is exemplified.

Special attention is paid to the consequences of the sedentary life form of adult plants and the subsequent strong interactions between neighbouring plants.

The monograph provides an overview of different ecolutionary and ecological empirical plant population models and conceptual links between different modelling approaches, e.g., spatial individual-based or plant size explicit modelling and the equilibrium conditions of mean-field models. The biological information underlying the discussed models is only briefly discussed.
