The future is nearly here

I've just got a Meta Quest 3 VR headset and the resolution is nearly there to make it a perfect digital comic reading device. This is using an app called Livro. A few more years and we'll be there. I expect the Apple headset will have a high enough resolution but you'll need to mortgage your house to buy one.

Never thought of reading a comic using a VR headset hahaha But it definteively seems a good thing to do!

Now I just have to wait until eInk technology develops more and eInk VR appears to the market (if that is possible!)x

New Apple VR headset Vision Pro appeared not quite long ago, for just 3500$. Are you already mortaging your house?

I'm in the present. Nobody will ever go to he future as it's always the present. We also cannot go to tomorrow as it's always today.

Not at all. It is what it is. The future and tomorrow are yet to come. It's always now and today. It's never the future or tomorrow.

You cannot time travel to tomorrow. No matter where/when you are, it's never going to be tomorrow. It's always going to be today.

If from Earth we watch two stars explode, Star A first then Star B... but an alien on the other side of the galaxy observes the same two stars exploding, but they see star B explode before star A... which star actually exploded first? And how do you prove that?

The passage of time isn't consistent for observers travelling at different speeds across the gravitationally warped medium of space-time. The perspective of a today and tomorrow for one party could occur in the blink of an eye to a party travelling fast enough (relative to the first party).

If you travel across the galaxy away from earth fast enough, once you return to earth decades have passed for the people on Earth yet from your perspective mere minutes have passed. Is that travelling into the future?

The Apple Vision Pro has a higher resolution then a 4K TV and it's OLED. The brightness also vastly improved. This is the VR headset to get when version 2 comes out as the rule is NEVER EVER get the 1st version of anything form Apple as there is always going to be really something wrong with it.

As comfortable as wearing a Meta Quest headset gets - not bad once you get it adjusted and get used to it. And no motion sickness - I've been using the Quest since version 1 came out so I'm pretty used to it now, although flight sims still make me queasy.

The problem is the resolution still isn't quite high enough so you have to bring the comic 'nearer' to you than is ideal.

It really is a glimpse of the virtual future though.

It is indeed. Very Neuromancer-ish.

AR/VR glasses in combination with Neuralink, Matrix like simulated worlds await!

There are already some amazingly well written, narrative heavy single player games, but imagine the extra level of immersion available as this branch of technology progresses. Being able to explores the locations and meet the characters in your favourite books...
