Thanks, I'll try it out immediately ... today till now I was working on the Hardware. I attached a TTL compatible GPS Module to the kobo mini (search for kobo and xcsoar to get more information about that), wraped it into a adhesive protective mass and my mum made a nice bag for it. At the back is the solar panel, if there is sun ... which is not sure for the weekend. And here are the pics:

connect a ttl-serial converter to the serial port of the kobo to see the kernel messages. This also gives you the possibility to log into the console and fix things as long as the system itself comes up.

Good to know, although I'm surprised that that would be the reason.
You might get bad grayscale representation now though, since the waveform data is calibrated to mareks display. |

Hi everybody,
just passing by to say that thanks to marek I too have turned my kobo into a linux tablet. I have been using it for more or less a month and in the meanwhile I edited the original image. Mostly fixes (e.g. the blinking led) and customization (e.g screen/scripts/vertical orientation), but more importantly I made a new window manager, mostly because I was not pleased in one way or another with any one I tried. If anyone is interested I put the source on a github page, and the full image on dropbox. Good reading! Last edited by pasqu4le; 11-02-2017 at 06:26 AM. |

That looks really cool I've been thinking about getting a cheap used Nook for playing around the past couple days. A few questions though:
1. What's your battery life been like with WiFi on/off? 2. How do you normally get your documents onto the device? Do you download them from the web or transfer them over USB, etc. 3. How well do you think this device would work as an always-on IRC client? |

Do you think newbies could put Debian onto a Mini, or is it "pros only?"
