Manga in book form in just a few steps!

Here's a little "faq" to few manga on your Sony ereader in pdf form . It takes about 5 minutes to do so feel free to try it out .

What you'll need:

Ultra Image2PDF Builder $39.95
http://www.caisdata.com

FastStone Photo Resizer 1.4 Free
http://www.download.com/FastStone-Ph...ml?tag=lst-0-1

Optional
PDF Split-Merge v2.1 $29.90
http://www.verypdf.com/pdfpg/index.html

First step

Get your manga .
My Friend drew this manga so we'll use it as an example .
you can get it here:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Y7GJCDQQ

Second step

Then you open up your picture resizer program and resize to 600 x 770 (thanks nat)

http://img82.imageshack.us/img82/8020/sizemg6.jpg

copy the settings I have here. The only thing I changed was the area that says "Preserver aspect ratio" I took that off. It distorts the images a little bit, but makes them show up perfectly on the reader.

Third step
Once it's done converting the next program you'll want to use is Ultra image2pdf

Open it up and copy the settings here:

http://img151.imageshack.us/img151/7553/pdfau9.jpgEDIT: 99 should be 90 >.> apparently I can't type :s)

Info for the sizes found here: Thanks Slava

After the settings are changed, set a save location press build and you're done.

(you should have ended up with something like this:

http://www.megaupload.com/jp/?d=SZVVZ3EI

Just stick the PDF into the memory card /reader and enjoy the manga .

Extra:

OH! But wait- Why did we need the split pdf program you ask!? Well a typical volume of manga is around 200 pages. Now following this method you can create a 200 page pdf manga book. The drawback is the load time greatly increases.

A 200 page pdf will take about 4-5 seconds to load
100 page - 3-4
50 page 2-3
20 page 2-3

so-- you can use the pdf split program to take the volume and chop it down into 4 separate PDFs each 50 pages long . (program is pretty self explanatory but let me know if you need help with it and i'll post a picture of it too .

Hope this helped

Can you do this with American comics that are usually a series of JPG files?

Your megaupload stuff doesn't seem to be working...

Thanks!

RAR archives of JPGs are used by a comic reading program called Comical.
I have some of my favorite books I've scanned so I don't damage them while reading... I'd love to take them with me on the reader... I hope the color comics look OK with this method...

I only wish I could buy digital American comics!

Thanks... I'm well aware of these online scans for Manga fans....

I just wish American publishers would get their act together and give me something digital I can buy. Untill then..... I'll still be driving to the comic shop every Wednesday!

Like anything Digital... The power to be are nervious...

Nice way to do it.

Been working up to scan my old Legion and Disney comic set over. Wondering beside PDF if there are any other file format that would also work. The test so far have been at native Reader resolution. Looks pretty good.

This device open up some very unique things...

Color.... Use PS to gray it.. Just pop it over as a jpeg... Also did color. Both poped out welll.

There is a Manga editor out there. Not sure what format it can kick out as.... Think ToyokoPop offer it...

Image2PDF is a great program, I just converted a couple of digitized manga to PDF's in a few minutes, so convenient. Then looking at them on the Reader was amazing. Now my problem is that I want more! I guess I'll have to look up more of the scanlations/Bit Torrent stuff.

i have been playing with the reader but i'm having trouble with the size, trying to convert a double page(2 pages together) of manga,so i can see it in the reader in vertical mode without having to change the settings in the reader. Any idea of the dimensions ?

hmmm the best way would probably be to manually cut the image in half... reason being, the viewer is only really supposed to show One page at a time, if you try to stuff two pages in one, it's going to get messy + small :s
