Help with optimum page counts!

My current workflow is to estimate page counts using the Count Pages plugin (ICU algorithm box checked) for epubs, which I send to my partner's Kindle. For myself, I use the "Create approximate page numbers" checkbox during KFX conversion.

All of the books in my library have the correct eISBN pulled from the book's copyright page, so I'm curious as to what the most "accurate" page count method is here (e.g. would it be more accurate to download page count data and ask the KFX plugin to use that value? Does the Count Pages plugin use the isbn during lookup?)

I'd also like to know whether it's necessary to hit "embed metadata" after using the Count Pages plugin (I'm writing a wee guide for an elderly relative and don't want to overcomplicate matters).

Thank you in advance for any help!

For ePub, I find the ADE page number method to be the most accurate. Once you get used to ADE pages, you get an idea of how long the eBook is.

ICU is the correct option for word count.
