Dear Hungarian Kobo users! / Kedves magyar Kobo olvasók!
EDIT 2017.05.18. There were minor changes in the UI text of firmware 4.4.9344, so I updated the translation. You can find it below as an attachment. As a new firmware, 4.4.9298 came out, you can find the updated translation below. As the previous packs, this pack installs the Hungarian user interface language, an English-Hungarian dictionary, found here: http://ekonyvolvaso.blog.hu/2010/10/...ol_mobi_szotar and a hyphenation dictionary, found here, showed by helour: http://code.metager.de/source/raw/mo...on/hyph_hu.dic The pack will also make some modifications in the ".kobo/Kobo/Kobo eReader.conf" config file: - Sets page refresh to 90 pages, so it will flicker less while reading. If you experience ghosts, do a manual refresh by tapping the screen twice. - Sets current locale to hu_HU, and adds ExtraLocales=hu, these are required to set the User interface to hungarian. Feel free to post any comments or translation errors you find. Installation: download the attachment (KoboRoot-AllInOne-hu-4.4.9298.zip), unzip and copy KoboRoot.tgz to Kobo over USB to ".kobo" folder, then safely remove the eReader. The device will automatically update itself and restart with the Hungarian interface language set. Ismertető és telepítési útmutató magyarul: Spoiler:
EDIT: Added a download option without the page refresh setting and without the dictionary. Last edited by kido.resuri; 05-18-2017 at 05:07 PM. Reason: firmware 4.4.9344 |

@kido.resuri: I do not think it is a good idea to set the page refresh like this. I would expect anyone that has found this page would already know how to do this and have already set it to their choice. Or have decided they will stick with the default.

Thanks for noting. I made a version without the refresh setting and without the dictionary. Uploaded to the post above.

Slovak user interface, firmware 4.4.9344
Hello Slovak users,
I have made slovak translation of the user interface for the actual firmware 4.4.9344. Any suggestion for the translation improvements would be appreciated. KoboRoot-AllInOne-sk-4.4.9344.zip package contains file KoboRoot.tgz with Slovak user interface translation, dictionary and hyphenation. The KoboRoot.tgz package has autoinstall feature (script updates database and config file). You only need to copy KoboRoot.tgz to your Kobo device over USB to ".kobo" folder directory. Don't forget safely remove your eReader after successful copying. KoboRoot-UI-sk-4.4.9344.zip file contains only Slovak user interface translation without dictionary and hyphenation. The autoinstall script sets CurrentLocale=sk_SK and adds ExtraLocales=sk to the config file. These changes are required to set the user interface to Slovak language. KoboRoot-KeyboardPatch-cz-sk-4.4.9344.zip file contains Czech/Slovak keyboard patch, which enables to type all cz/sk national characters (ľščť...). It was tested on the Kobo Glo HD, but it should work on other Kobo devices too. KoboRoot-KeyboardUnpatch.zip restores previous "unpatched" keyboard. Informácie pre slovenských/českých používateľov: Spoiler:

Slovak user interface, firmware 4.6.9995 and 4.6.10075
Hello Slovak users,
slovak translation for the newest firmware 4.6.9995 and 4.6.10075 is finally checked and available for downloading. Both firmwares have exactly the same UI files. KoboRoot-AllInOne-sk-4.6.9995.zip package contains file KoboRoot.tgz with the Slovak user interface translation, dictionary and hyphenation. KoboRoot.tgz package has newer autoinstall feature (script updates database and config file), small bug was removed. You only need to copy KoboRoot.tgz to your Kobo device over USB to ".kobo" folder directory. Don't forget safely remove your eReader after successful copying. KoboRoot-UI-sk-4.6.9995.zip file contains only the Slovak user interface translation without dictionary and hyphenation. Autoinstall script sets CurrentLocale=sk_SK and adds ExtraLocales=sk to the config file. These changes are required to set the user interface to Slovak language. KoboRoot-KeyboardPatch-cz-sk-4.6.9995.zip file contains Czech/Slovak keyboard patch, which enables to type all cz/sk national characters (ľščť...). It was tested on the Kobo Glo HD, but it should work on the other Kobo devices too. KoboRoot-KeyboardUnpatch.zip restores the previous "unpatched" keyboard. Please install the keyboard patch after the other patches. Spoiler:

Thank you very much, helour. Slovak translation of UI works likes a charm :-)
Everything is translated except the fraze: "Please eject your eReader before unplugging the USB cable." I tried to find the reason in source, I think it is because of quotation marks in Slovak translation. But I did not test it, yet. |

Hungarian user interface
Kedves olvasótárs,
nagyon örülök a 4.4.9298-as firmware verzióhoz használható magyarításnak. Azóta már többször frissült a firmware, de a magyarítás nem. Ezért információt kérek, hogy a 4.7.10413-as firmware verzióhoz számíthatunk-e magyarításra. Köszönöm. Quote:

Viszonylag minimális nyelvi eltérés van a két verzió között, többek között ezért sem készült még kifejezetten a legújabb verzióhoz fordítás.

Slovak user interface, firmware 4.12.12111
Hello Slovak users,
Slovak translation for the actual firmware 4.12.12111 is ready for download. KoboRoot-AllInOne-sk-4.12.12111.zip package contains file KoboRoot.tgz with Slovak user interface translation, Slovak-English, English-Slovak dictionary, and Slovak hyphenation. KoboRoot.tgz package has autoinstall feature. You only need to copy KoboRoot.tgz to your Kobo device over USB to ".kobo" folder directory. Don't forget to safely remove your eReader after successful copying. The autoinstall script updates dictionary database entries, then sets CurrentLocale=sk_SK and adds ExtraLocales=sk in the config file, moreover it applies the dictionary patch. All these changes are required to set the user interface to Slovak language and enables using Slovak dictionaries. Note: Because of some changes in the Kobo firmware (for version >= 4.8.11073) this package also contains dictionary patch for libnickel file (see https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=273820) which enables searches on Extra dictionaries. Please apply this autoinstall package after the other patches but before Czech-Slovak keyboard patch below. KoboRoot-UI-sk-4.12.12111.zip file contains the Slovak user interface translation without dictionary and hyphenation. KoboRoot-KeyboardPatch-cz-sk-4.12.12111.zip file contains Czech-Slovak keyboard patch, which enables to type all Czech and Slovak national characters (ľščť...). It was tested on the Kobo Glo HD, but it should work on the other Kobo devices too. KoboRoot-KeyboardUnpatch.zip restores the previous "unpatched" keyboard. Please install the keyboard patch after the other patches. Information in Slovak language is in the spoiler below - Informácie pre slovenských užívateľov sú v spoileri. Spoiler:

Slightly updated translation tools - python's scripts
Because I use translation tools a bit more often, I decided to slightly improve all three python's scripts - bin2qm.py, qm2ts.py, and ts2ts.py. The last one has option for using untranslatable sentences now.
Note: You don't need the qm2ts.py script more if you are using the Qt Linguist. The Qt Linguist has a feature for opening *.qm files. |

Hello everyone. I'd like to translate interface to polish language in latest firmware 4.18.13737 so I decided to not open another topic.
I followed instructions from post -> https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...7&postcount=82 (bin2qm.py script got 2 errors with "print" command, but that's not big deal) - I use Python 3.8.0 Unfortunately, when I execute corrected bin2qm.py script I got only one information: "usage: bin2qm.py input_file", and 0 files are generated. File "nickel" is in same folder as scripts. Am I doing something wrong? |

Hello everyone,
I have firmware 4.20 on a Kobo Touch n905. I would like to install Hungarian translated user interface because my mother doesn't speak/understand English. Is the file in the first post going to be good for my firmware? Or if not, where can I find one that will work? I don't have any Linux-based machine and/or the knowledge to translate on my own. Thank you for the help. Andras |
