Question External links in EPUB files?

Hi,
I wrote a program to convert atom feeds to epub books(go economist!) for easy reading. However I'm confused as to how external links are supposed to work in epub. Is there something special one has to do to make a link to webpage?

FBreader follows my a href=http://blabla links just fine. However, Nook Simple Touch merely highlights them and does nothing when I tap on them. Any suggestions? is the nook str simply broken or is there some magic markup I have to include to make those work?

Do you put the URL between quotes?

There's nothing special you should do with external links, but it's up to the reading application to follow them or not...

Ok, thanks for confirming. Sounds like Nook STR reader is being a pain here.

Not really. It's not made to follow external links. The browser it has it not advertised as a feature and it was only found by accident.
