Yes, the same people who demand a ship date are also the first to complain when the quality isn't perfect. The old saying is "quick, low cost, high quality. Pick two!

They actually wrote that Onyx engineers have made a new firmware, this means that it should be ready to install on the device for testing.
When they test it they need sunshine and/or infrared lights to make sure it does not act up again, so I hope we get a reply today or tomorrow.
If this truly is a fix for the IR-sensor problem I hope they focus on upgrading the devices they are sending out to customers before posting the test results to this forum the reader is supposed to ship today.

"cheap, fast, reliable. pick two"

This morning we've tested the new firmware the engineer gave us and the IR problem is solved!!
Now we need to wait for the official firmware so we can send the devices to all customers!

That's really great! Could you tell us what you have exactly done in the firmware to solve this problem?

By the way, I am interested in the M91S and I would like to know why you don't have this model in black colour because in Russia they have it in black.

I just assumed that we would be able to order white or black no matter where we are located, I am certainly ordering a black M91S.

I don't know what they did, they just gave me a new firmware to test.
I think the black one will be only available for Russia (exclusive) (just like the A61S Hamlet)

well the main issue with stocking both models in both colors is economics. to meet minimum order quantities ties up alot of funds. meeting moq for 4 separate SKUs is prohibitive. then you have production volume issues. if the Russian distributor buys up the whole run of black M91s there just isn't any for the rest of us.

I've used the Onyx Boox M91S all day long (because of the IR issue) and I found a function that is not mentioned in the manual, the "lock keyboard" function. So you can switch off all buttons on the left frame.
You need to hold down the IRkey and slowly scroll upwards.
You get to possibilities:
- Lock Menu and Back
- Lock PageUp and PageDown

Well, if you have to select only one color to stock, I think most people would want the black one...

I agree. I also think that most people would prefer a non-glossy finish.
