What are some stores that generally do best possible cover, illustration/maps quality

I tend to pick books from various stores, and I'm often disappointed with quality of images present in e-books. They're generally of low resolution, maps are blurry, writing is often illegible, sometime I'm even presented with generic covers as, I guess, that there are some disagreements between publishers and artists.

I'd guess this depends more on the publisher than the store.

You are best off with ePub instead of Kindle as Amazon plays games with graphic sizes.

I agree that it's based on the publisher then the store. Also, newer eBooks may have a larger graphics then older eBooks. But sometimes the graphics are redone in a new er version.

Brandon Sanderson's eBooks in ePub give you some nice hi-res graphics.

And some authors offer high resolution images (mostly maps) on their websites. I've downloaded several of those though they do tend to bloat the size of the ebook.

Authors may include LowRes images IN THE BOOK to keep seller file transfer fees down. (on the flip side, Some of my books come with a ton of book ads. The fee is a way the seller tames this practice)

A lot of the friendlier ones seem to offer (link) a better quality image that is hosted on a less costly service (most likely, the Authors site) .
