Kindle Fire 8 not connecting on Calibre?

Hey guys! I currently have my Kindle set up the way I want no problem. I set it up about 2 years ago. I bought my oldest daughter a Kindle fire 8 and for some reason I can not get it set up correctly. She has registered it and installed Calibre Companion on it. I have plugged up her Kindle to my Laptop and clicked on my Calibre.
It will not connect as a wireless device. I have tried everything I can think of. It is showing connected to my computer when I use the USB cable but It won't show any folders in the Kindle itself, just properties.
I have had it for 4 days working on it. Any help would be wonderful.
I'm an old guy and not very technically inclined. I am familiar though. Thanks!
Here's what my Kindle is telling me:

Failed to connect

If you specified an IP address and port
manually, this probably means you entered
them incorrectly. Please check you entered
the address and port of the "Wireless device
connection" service, as shown in the Connect/
Share menu in calibre. This is not the same as
the content server.

If you did not manually enter an IP address,
please check your device's WiFi is working.
