USB Debugging...enable or not?

I just installed "Button Savior" from the Market but when I opened it, a window popped up saying the "app requires USB Debugging enabled to work properly. Please come back to this app after ... is enabled."

I don't know what this means so I chose No and exited out. Um, is this something I should have enabled in general? Or is it specific to this app? I'm a new NC owner and have never had a rooted device before so I appreciate all the help I can get.

Thanks.

Open NookColor Tools ->Development and check USB debugging.

For some reason this doesn't stay enabled with Autonooter 3.0, but for the initial setup of Button Savior it needs to be enabled. It also needs to be enabled for adb, etc....

I occasionally have to enable it when Button Savior acts up also.

I got the same thing when I tried to install Titanium Backup. Resolved in the same way. Are there other apps that are affected by this?

As far as I know - only apps that need root access. I had to do it every time I want ADB USB access. Switched to ADB Wireless for that reason....

Is there ever a situation where turning on USB debugging is necessary or even useful when there is nothing connected to, or about to be connected to, the USB port?
