I think I'd be a bit more impressed/convinced if someone published real numbers.
At any event, I don't expect to see a Hunger Games theme park any time soon. |

I ain't buying it. On Amazon alone ... possibly. But even then, there's some fuzzy logic/semantic games going on in that article.

I'm even surprised the HP series has sold at all on ebook considering the massive sales on print in the past decade. Who's left to buy the HP ebooks that has not read them on print yet ?
Also they mention combining prints and digital Kindle books ... Kindles though a substantial part of the e-book world is for that much NOT the entire book world right ? Quote:

I find it difficult to trust a source that claims Suzanne Collins only has written three books ... she also has written the five book series of "The Underland Chronicles" which is probably meant for a slightly younger crowd than the "Hunger Games", but is also quite good.

The linked article kind of buries that these are only Amazon.com sales.

Frankly, I'm very sure JKR's total sales are miles ahead on practically any sensible comparison - and I should think that would also apply to total Amazon sales as well. And I'll be very surprised if Hunger Games is selling anywhere near the Potter sort of numbers in, say, 10 year's time....... |

Of course the timing of this announcement corresponds to the launch of her new book, Gregor the Overlander, which was the Kindle Daily Deal today.

I can believe that sales of The Hunger Games trilogy are higher *on amazon.com* than sales of the Harry Potter series. Harry Potter ebooks were drastically delayed, and many people who aren't mobi-only readers prefer to buy them from Pottermore, without DRM, rather than through Amazon. And for the first several books, Amazon was a startup; it didn't monopolize online booksales--which were much smaller. And if they're not counting amazon.uk, well, there's a certain "duh" factor involved. Famous US author exceeds sales of famous UK author on US bookstore site. Hm. Shocked, I am not. |
