worst piece of sh*** device

My digital paper decided not to pair anymore with ANY computer, after updating it. I spent now a tremendous amount of money (like literally weeks!) to fix it - but nothing worked. I am getting now that angry that I am very close to trash it.

I can't use it at all anymore - no way to pair it, therefor no connection, therefor not possible to send documents.

This it the worst device I ever bought.

Never ever again, Sony.

Have you tried contacting Sony support?

Yes, of course. That alone took an eternity - as they don't make it easy. Finally I sent a email but didn't get a reply so far. I also contacted the Sony center, when I was in Berlin, but they refused to help me, as the device isn't sold in Europe.

An unpleasant experience overall.

Yesterday, I also got one one support from a brilliant IT guy and Mac specialist. However, the console didn't provide any useful data and everything we tried didn't work. It is ridiculous. I can't send documents to the RP1. The time alone I send trying is worth another device.

If it works - I love it (besides all the silly restrictions). But this is a (bad) joke.

The background problem is that the reader is not sold in Europe.

Please Sony, sell the new rumored model also in Europe!

That's one problem. The other on is, that it's not possible to send Sony a simply email on that matter, as they provide only support by phone. Silly. It took me forever to fin out how to contact them via email and they never replied.

This must be a substantial software issue. 2 experts were trying to help me and couldn't figure out. They stated that. So, until Sony will fix that with a future update, my device remains unusable to a time where I really need it (and what I bought it for).

Thanks, Sony.

It was about time! But the update really improves the device. The page turn speed and pen writing is much faster, and feels really good. All in all the device feels more reliable after the update. The TOC does what it should do!

Picked up one of those lookalike covers (DPTA-RC1) for about US$20. Must say, I'm quite impressed. Much better in terms of convenience than the leather sleeve that I was using.

That is quite a good price! Your photos look like the original Sony cover. Where did you find it for so cheap?

From Taobao (i live in Hong Kong). I'm pretty sure you can get these on Amazon but probably not as cheap.

The box even has the same model name as the original

Ah-ha! No, if that kind is sold on Amazon, it will be close to the original price.

I just updated to the new firmware and I am very impressed by how fast the pen now writes! Nice job on the update. I was getting kind of annoyed by the pen lag but it is much better now.

The page turning also seems faster.

ToC and Back-Jump made the device a lot more useful. Still hoping for a clock and dictionary.
