FBReaderJ 0.2.3 for Android released
FBReaderJ is an e-book reader for the Android platform. It is a clone of the FBReader book reader written in Java.
The new 0.2.3 release fixes the previous problem with slow zip and epub decompression. Currently, the only ebook formats supported are (DRM-free) oeb, epub, and fb2. |

"FBReaderJ is an e-book reader for the Android platform"
For those who don't know (including me): Android platform = Mobile Linux version? Will it mean that the tool will be translated to other Linux versions as well? |

Android has such a large "mind share" in the Open Source community that I forgot how much it is still flying under the radar. So far it is only on one phone, see Using the T-Mobile G1 as an eBook reader but Android is seen as a major potential competitor to iPhone. There are going to be lots of Android smart phones this year, and also Archos is developing an Android phone / tablet. See also jayakumar's initial port to EInk in Znet suggests Kindroid (Android on Kindle).
