They also all seem to be on Kindle Unlimited, so depending on how fast you read, a month of so of that might be cheaper.

Synopsis

A romantic seven-day cruise is the perfect start to bakery owner Hannah Swensen’s marriage. However, with a murder mystery heating up in Lake Eden, Minnesota, it seems the newlywed’s homecoming won’t be as sweet as anticipated . . .
* *
After an extravagant honeymoon, Hannah’s eager to settle down in Lake Eden and turn domestic daydreams into reality. But when her mother’s neighbor is discovered murdered in the condo downstairs, reality becomes a nightmarish investigation. Victoria Bascomb, once a renowned stage actress, was active in the theater community during her brief appearance in town . . . and made throngs of enemies along the way. Did a random intruder murder the woman as police claim, or was a deadlier scheme at play? As Hannah peels through countless suspects and some new troubles of her own, solving this crime—and living to tell about it—might prove trickier than mixing up the ultimate banana cream pie . . .

A bunch of McCammon's other horror/thriller titles have also dropped to $2.99 - or may have already been $2.99 - I don't tend to follow thriller/horror much.

Matthew Corbett titles
  • Matthew Corbett Adventures #1 contains Mister Slaughter (#3 in series) and The Providence Rider (#4) - these two titles are also available individually if you have one already and don't want to deal with the omnibus...
  • The River of Souls (#5)
  • The Freedom of the Mask (#6)
other McCammon titles
  • Vampire Tales: contains I Travel by Night and They Thirst, also available individually...
  • The Night Boat
  • The Border

The Wayward Apprentice is the first in the Stephen Attebrook series by Jason Vail. This may be self pub (Hawk Publishing???), but I've read this and several other titles in the series and enjoyed it. It is free right now at Kindle US.

link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003PPDB12

Spoiler:
Quote:
Stephen Attebrook, a crippled knight facing poverty and ruin, seems condemned to a quiet life when he takes a position as deputy coroner in the small town of Ludlow.

But instead, he plunges into a web of murder and intrigue.

A death Attebrook rules an accidental drowning turns out to be a murder, and he must find the killer with little evidence pointing the way.

Then a commission to return a runaway apprentice pitches him into the midst of a conflict between a rebellious earl and King Henry III that is about to erupt into civil war.

Caught up in the twilight struggle among spies readying for war, Attebrook races to defend the apprentice against a charge of murder while dodging killers in the employ of one of the factions.

Thirteenth century England has never been brought more vividly to life than in the pages of The Wayward Apprentice.

Second Violin is the 6th in the Inspector Troy series by John Lawton. It has dropped to $1.99 at Kindle US.

link: https://www.amazon.com/Second-Violin...dp/B0097DHSZQ/

Spoiler:
Quote:
As London braces for WWII, a string of murdered rabbis draws Inspector Troy into a mystery that “sets pulses racing and the jaded responses tingling” (Irish Times).

One of today’s top historical espionage writers, considered “as good as Le Carré” (Chicago Tribune) and “a master” (Rocky Mountain News), John Lawton adds another spellbinding thriller to his Inspector Troy series with Second Violin.

The sixth installment in the series, Lawton’s new novel opens in 1938 with Europe on the brink of war. In London, Frederick Troy, newly promoted to the prestigious murder squad at Scotland Yard, is put in charge of rounding up a list of German and Italian “enemy aliens” that also includes his brother, Rod, who learns upon receiving an internment letter that he was born in Austria despite having grown up in England. Hundreds of men are herded by train to a neglected camp on the Isle of Man. And as the bombs start falling on London, a murdered rabbi is found, then another, and another . . .

Amid great war, murder is what matters. Moving from the Nazi-infested alleys of prewar Vienna to the bombed-out streets of 1940 London, and featuring an extraordinary cast of characters, Lawton’s thriller is a suspenseful and intelligent novel, as good a spy story as it is an historical narrative.

“Smart and gracefully written.” —Patrick Anderson, The Washington Post

Frankie's Letter is the first in the two-book (for now) Anthony Brooke series by Dolores Gordon-Smith. It has dropped to $1.99 at Kindle and Kobo US (couponable/VIPable).

Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/Frankies-Lett...dp/B00AXO4KPE/
Kobo US: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/frankie-s-letter-1

Spoiler:
Quote:
A brisk, action-packed spy mystery unfolds against the backdrop of World War I, from the author of the acclaimed Jack Haldean mystery series.

In this “exciting spy thriller full of period charm,” Dr. Anthony Brooke has abandoned his medical career to spy for the British Crown (Kirkus Reviews). But he has reason to believe his latest mission has been compromised. In a hotel in Kiel, Germany, a colleague’s dying words are, “There’s a spy in England. Frankie’s letter. Read Frankie’s letter . . .” But Anthony hasn’t a clue who Frankie might be. With his cover blown and the German army at his heels, Anthony’s search to discover the truth leads him to an innocent-seeming country house. Here, deep within the English countryside, as Anthony uncovers a web of spies, treachery, and terrorists, the war becomes close and very personal.

“Packed with adventure, action, and unforeseen twists, Gordon-Smith’s latest will appeal to Ken Follett fans.” —Booklist

“Dolores Gordon-Smith keeps her plot twisting and turning.” —Historical Novel Society

Field Grey is the 7th in the Bernie Gunther series by Philip Kerr. It has dropped to £0.99 at Kindle UK.

link: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004OR10J0

Spoiler:
Quote:
'A man doesn't work for his enemies unless he has little choice in the matter.'

So says Bernie Gunther, when he finds himself working for French Intelligence - it was either that or hang for murder. His job is to meet and greet POWs returning to Germany, and to find a French war criminal and member of the French SS who has been posing as a German Wehrmacht officer. The French are anxious to catch up with this man and deal with him in their own ruthless way. But Bernie's past is about to catch up with him - in a way he could never have foreseen.

Black Diamond is the third in the Bruno, Chief of Police series by Martin Walker. I really like this series, although I'm a huge Francophile, so I may be a bit biased . It has dropped to £0.99 at Kindle UK.

link: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004EYT87Y

Spoiler:
Quote:
At the heart of French gastronomy lies the famed black truffle of the Périgord. But France's truffles are being adulterated with cheaper ones from China, and it seems that Chinese organised crime is behind the fraud. The third internationally bestselling case for Bruno, Chief of Police.

In St Denis market, a Vietnamese family has been selling their dishes for years, until their stall is wrecked by attackers who look Chinese. Again it appears that organised crime is behind the outrage, firing the opening shots of a Viet-Chinese triad war. When vicious murder, illegal immigration and the importation of underage girls for prostitution are added to the mix, Bruno has his work cut out to keep St Denis from tearing itself apart.
